Currently, Assegid is a candidate for Doctor of Strategic Leadership at Regent University, majoring in Coaching. He also earned Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Addis Ababa University (AAU), Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science from HiLCoE, and Master's in Computer Science from University of Northern Virginia.

Assegid has a diverse professional experiences. Following his graduation from AAU, he had been working as a Research Assistant at an International Research Institute until he came to the US in 2005. Until he started his study on leadership, he had been working as an IT professional for his former school and a multinational Semi-conductor company.

Assegid's passion for leadership started well before he joined AAU, when he and his colleagues formed a youth association in his home town- Harar. He became the chairman until he left for AAU. While at AAU, he was the President of AAU Students' Union and had been serving his fellow students at AAU.
