Winning self, the gateway towards success-Part II
In part one, we have seen that the gateway towards success was well exploited by some smart people. We said that it is as old as our human history but most of us have been denied of this truth and kept at bay from enjoying its benefits because we are busy trying in conquering others, the world, and the devil. The disarray not to focus on self before ever attempting to step out towards achieving success looks ubiquitous and most people have given it inadequate time. Otherwise, Philosophers like Plato, throughout human history, have been advising to go for the first and best victory. That is to conquer self.
However, winning self takes the step we have been discussing: taking responsibility very seriously. If we fail there, we are defeated by default right there. True confessions for success start from the belief that we are responsible no matter what. That is the first gateway to conquer self and march out to win other territories. Successful people knew this fact from there most being and when something goes wrong, they step aside and re-evaluate their self than going out for full scale war against any force out side of them. Self not only provide self-inflicted damage control but provides the best bet approach to enjoy the war we might have out side of ourselves. If one fails to conquer self, there is no moral ground to think conquering others. If someone fails to subdue self, there is no any other weapon formed as of today for a person to subdue others (we are speaking winning willingly in business, spiritual journey, discovery etc. Otherwise, dictators and fascist have been ruling others by force before they ever gained self control).
King David didn’t strive neither to conquer any one nor accused someone or anything else when Nathan the prophet came to him after he had sinned with Bathsheba. He knew where he should first begin if he wanted to redeem himself and restore his friendship with God and avoid total abandonment of God- his right hand. He determined to conquer himself with the belief that that would be a gateway to win God’s mercy and restore his kingdom. He knew, if he deals himself and humble, that would save him from death, and from more disgraceful consequences. In Psalm 51: 5, David lamented: “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.” David was so honest, he went back as far as his birth and made every one free from responsible but him.
He could have reasoned the possible compounding factors and causes of his fall. He could have enumerated how his upbringing, friendship, what happened that day, etc prone him to sin. He was focused on himself and conquered self by fasting and confessing his sins as an act of being responsible. That brought a new gateway towards successful emission of sin. David brought the one who needed the medicine so the fix was so quick. He knew he should be washed and be cleaned to regain trust and remain in his kingship. In verse 7, he made himself ready for a wash of self: “Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean [ceremonially]; wash me, and I shall [in reality] be whiter than snow.”
Smart people in our history are well aware how they can bring change. Mahatma Gandhi said, “As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world...as in being able to remake ourselves.” This great man conquered himself and 'remake' Indians to stand for their freedom. He restrained himself and stood on a higher moral ground, and caused the Kingdom of Great Britain to shake. He won himself and focused on his own strengthen that lifted him to the position that drawn millions. He never tried to remake Indians or change the British in any way than remaking himself that brought all in effect his vision for his country. If he tried to remake the people or going out first to redefine or remake the Empire, that would have been the wrong approach. The self conquer of one man brought a new remake of history. Friend, to remake or restore your life, family, company, organization, church, or country or even the world, the gateway is at your hand and that is you.
Many kingdoms, marriages, relationships, businesses fail mainly because they fail to makeover within. The wife tries to remake the husband and vice versa. What a marriage it would be if each remakes themselves than to reach out and change their partner. Before going out to remake the business arena in favor of your product, service, what a wise decision to remake the company that definitely prompts partners, customers, and other outside factors change or rethink to fit with the new tempting makeover your company has done? It is possible man!

I do have to admit that I enjoy studying your blog, even when I don't concur with you. I guess the primary thing would be to make men and women feel. One of these days I will get around to beginning a blog. It will probably be far more for blowing off steam and less informative than yours is although. Keep writing and I will keep reading.
